Artist Statement

For the past year, my works have focused on capturing personal experiences with alcohol, overworking, and the benefits and burdens of interpersonal connections. I create these experiences through the use of installation and scenes people can interact with; sculpture; digital media in the form of projections, light-design, custom prints; and visual and audible sound. I enjoy when a viewer can live in, interact, and alter my works, leaving their fingerprint on a piece just like the impact they leave on me and vice versa.

My goal is to bring people into a familiar space that nevertheless offers someone else’s perspective whether it’s through the conversation of the piece itself or a result of conversing with other viewers. Inspired by Marcel Duchamp and his role in the Dada Movement, I believe that art is created via the viewer and their reaction and not limited to the piece itself. Therefore, I aim to create a strong reaction with my work. Above all, my artistic motivation for creating these pieces is my love for people and my desire to create something from them.
